2026 Survey: Family Office AI Adoption & Cybersecurity
· The Cyber FoundationHi all,
Ynez here. As Co-Founder of The Cyber Foundation, the TCF team and I are pleased to announce the launch of our 2026 Survey: Family Office AI Adoption & Cybersecurity. We have been closely following the acceleration of the use of AI tools in family offices making an exploration into AI/cybersecurity a logical follow up to our inaugural State of Family Office Cybersecurity survey. However, with the pace of AI development and deployment, we have carefully considered how to structure a survey to deliver the most benefit to family offices at this time. We called upon Peter de Pentheny O'Kelly, a family office leader and AI advisor at Deep Hawks, to help us create a comprehensive and meaningful framing for the family office community. Unsurprisingly, Peter did a beautiful job making the complexity of the topic approachable.
In my role as the head of a single family office, my primary feedback upon completing the survey was that it was a learning experience for me. The responses I didn’t select were as thought-provoking as the ones I did select. One of the characteristics of a great survey is that it makes you think differently. So, with confidence that there is value in both the process of taking the survey and in seeing how TCF frames insights from the data, I encourage other family office leaders to take 15-20 minutes to complete it and share it with others.
It is unknown and unknowable where the prevailing assumption that “all roads lead to and through AI” will lead us. What we do know is that right now AI is increasingly embedded in family office operations, in the tools and platforms that family members, staff, and service providers are using regularly. With that in mind, TCF is developing frameworks to help family offices understand, design, and deploy AI tools with a cybersecurity-forward approach. Your input on this survey is critical to how we approach this effort.
In closing, I want to share my personal view that the development of these frameworks is a human-first effort. Technology is an enhancement to the human mind; even with the incredible tools we have created, we cannot tip toe away from critical thinking. In fact, there is no better time to double down on critical thinking as we consider how we will intentionally embrace tools that create enormous efficiency - and carry enormous risk.
Thank you for participating in our survey, we look forward to sharing the results and insights.
